Sampling Purpose: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Rock Island District) collected sediment samples from the Upper Mississippi River (Pools 11, 16, and 17) for the Environmental Management Program (EMP) in 1988-1991. Core or grab samples were taken at locations representative of areas impacted by the EMP projects and analyzed for volatile matter, organic carbon, particle size, total nitrogen, metals, organochlorines, polychlorinated biphenyls, and petroleum-related compounds. Sample coordinate information was not provided with this study; however, coordinates were approximated in ArcView using detailed maps.
