Tours and Classroom Presentations available at the UMESC

The Center offers a variety of educational opportunities for students during a tour of the Center. Three "Sites for Learning" that are available to students of all ages. Students are also able to get a "hands-on" feel of lake sturgeon in a research laboratory and feed rainbow trout in the outdoor raceways.

  1. The Center foyer houses a variety of educational displays.

  2. The indoor Learning Lab offers opportunities to see a variety of live fish, amphibians and reptiles and view all life stages of preserved fish from larvae to adults.

  3. The Outdoor Classroom includes a handicap accessible walkway through a floodplain forest to a platform over the Black River backwaters with hands-on displays and opportunities to sample water, plants, or invertebrates from the river.
