Education:
B.S. Forestry at Stephen F. Austin State University

Primary Responsibilities/Activities:
Management and maintenance of UMESC’s land cover/land use data and aerial photography archives. Flight planning and acquisition of aerial photography. Coordination of FWS Refuge vegetation mapping projects.

Research Interests:

Software-based image segmentation and vegetation classification
Software-based feature counting
Comparing high-resolution digital imagery to traditional 9X9 aerial film in the GIS workflow
Applying LIDAR to floodplain resource assessments

Active Projects:

Fall migration swan counts and habitat use (ACE)
vegetation classification for Neal Smith and Crane Meadows NWR (RMSAT)
GIS technical support to the Upper Mississippi River System partnership (RMSAT)
